Italian club Napoli has finalized the permanent transfer of Danish forward Rasmus Højlund from Manchester United, making him the first signing for the Partenopei in the forthcoming summer transfer period.

Højlund had spent the previous season on loan at Napoli, but the southern Italian club reached an agreement with Manchester United to activate the mandatory purchase clause, thereby securing the player’s rights permanently.

According to Italian reports, Højlund signed a contract with Napoli for four seasons, extending until the 2030 campaign, following his impressive performances last season with the Partenopei.

During the past season, Højlund scored 16 goals across all competitions for Napoli and contributed 8 assists, justifying the club’s decision to retain him. With Napoli qualifying for the Champions League, the mandatory purchase clause stipulated in the agreement made with Manchester United last summer was automatically triggered.

The transfer deal cost Napoli a total of 50 million euros, divided into 44 million euros for activating the mandatory purchase option and an additional 6 million euros paid for the initial loan period.
