Real Madrid Plans Major Squad Overhaul with 10 Players Facing Exit
Real Madrid is preparing a significant restructuring of its squad following two consecutive winless seasons. Up to 10 players may leave the club, pending approval from the incoming coach, likely José Mourinho. Key departures include goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders, and forwards, with Vinícius Jr.'s contract situation still unresolved.

Real Madrid is set to undertake a comprehensive restructuring of its squad after experiencing two consecutive seasons without trophies. The club anticipates that up to 10 players could depart to make room for new signings.
This overhaul depends on the approval of the new head coach, who is expected to be Portuguese José Mourinho unless unexpected changes occur.
According to the Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, the first player Real Madrid intends to release is goalkeeper Andriy Lunin. Despite delivering exceptional performances when given the chance, the club aims to promote youth academy graduate Javi Navarro to the first team.
In defense, the contracts of Dani Carvajal and David Alaba are set to expire, making their departures certain. Meanwhile, German defender Antonio Rüdiger is expected to remain after renewing his contract for an additional year.
The club also plans to offload one of its left-backs, specifically Fran García, particularly following the acquisition of Álvaro Carreras last summer, who was considered a key signing. Regarding Ferland Mendy, who recently underwent surgery due to a severe injury, the club may seek to reach an agreement to terminate his contract.
In midfield, three players stand out as candidates for departure. Dani Ceballos has one year remaining on his contract but is expected to leave before its conclusion. Eduardo Camavinga and Federico Valverde are also under scrutiny; Camavinga’s performances have not met expectations, while Valverde’s situation is complicated by a recent incident involving Aurélien Tchouaméni. Finding a new club for Valverde is not expected to be difficult, and Real Madrid could secure a substantial transfer fee.
Among forwards, Gonzalo García is highlighted. Despite a strong showing at the FIFA Club World Cup, he did not have the anticipated impact during the season. Under coach Xabi Alonso, he was relied upon more, but his role was limited under Álvaro Arbeloa, with participation mainly at the end of the season.
The report concludes by questioning the future of Vinícius Jr., whose contract expires on June 30, 2027. No renewal has been announced yet, and if no agreement is reached, he could leave the club on a free transfer at the end of the next season.
