Yan Diomande is reportedly signaling his intention to transfer to Paris Saint-Germain this summer, despite ongoing interest from Bayern Munich and Liverpool, according to Foot Mercato.

The RB Leipzig forward has allegedly authorized PSG to pursue his signing, encouraging the French club to escalate their efforts to secure the attacker who stood out in last season's Bundesliga. Meetings between officials from Leipzig and PSG have already taken place to discuss a potential transfer.

Nevertheless, a major obstacle remains as PSG hesitates to meet Leipzig's asking price. Leipzig holds a strong negotiating position due to Diomande's contract, which extends until 2030. The club has indicated it will only consider offers near 100 million euros for the Ivory Coast international after just one season.

Oliver Mintzlaff, RB Leipzig's managing director, stated in January on Sky, "We have to look towards the summer. Of course, you can't let him go after just one year." He added, "As chairman of the supervisory board, I would say: he will certainly be with us next season, even if there were bids of over 80 or 90 million euros."

When asked in mid-May during an interview with kicker about his future, Diomande responded affirmatively about staying at Leipzig next season, saying, "I'm in Leipzig and I enjoy playing here," and that he was not distracted by interest from other clubs.

RB Leipzig's qualification for the Champions League by finishing third in the Bundesliga adds a sporting incentive for Diomande to remain, as missing out on Europe's premier club competition might have made a transfer more attractive. The club would also face greater financial pressure to sell players without the revenue from the Champions League.

PSG's pursuit of Diomande could intensify depending on the status of winger Bradley Barcola, whose place in the first team is uncertain amid PSG's star-studded lineup. Barcola is frequently linked with a departure from Paris, with Bayern Munich among the interested clubs. Should Barcola leave, Diomande would be considered as a replacement, although he would likely start behind key attackers Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Désiré Doué, and Ousmane Dembélé.

Bayern Munich has been linked with Diomande for several months, but the Ivorian does not fully align with the club's requirements. Bayern reportedly seeks a forward capable of playing on the wings and also covering centrally for Harry Kane. Diomande, primarily a winger, has yet to prove his effectiveness as a center-forward at the highest level. Anthony Gordon, who transferred from Newcastle United to FC Barcelona, was considered a better fit for Bayern's needs.

Liverpool has been more closely connected to Diomande, who fueled speculation by posting on TikTok in January: "I want to play for Liverpool. I'm a big Liverpool fan. My father dreams of seeing me play at Anfield one day. That's my dream too – and I want to make it come true." Reports from Sky Sports in April indicated that Liverpool and Diomande's agency were engaged in concrete negotiations. Additionally, Real Madrid and Chelsea are reportedly monitoring the situation.

Diomande joined RB Leipzig last summer after transferring from CD Leganés, where he made ten appearances before the club was relegated. Leipzig paid a €20 million transfer fee for him. He quickly secured a regular starting position under coach Ole Werner and finished the Bundesliga season with twelve goals and nine assists in 33 appearances, contributing to Leipzig's return to the Champions League after a one-year absence.

Currently, Diomande is preparing with the Ivory Coast national team for the World Cup in the USA, Mexico, and Canada. He is considered one of Africa's leading prospects. The Ivory Coast will open their campaign on 14 June against Ecuador, followed by a match against Germany on 20 June, and then face Curaçao in their final group game.
