During a press conference with the European Commissioner for Mediterranean Affairs, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Ati stressed the importance of achieving a complete Israeli withdrawal from Lebanon and consolidating the ceasefire agreement.

Earlier, Lebanese Foreign Minister and Expatriates Affairs Yusuf Reggi wrote on “X” that he was pleased to meet with ambassadors from Francophone countries in Lebanon, where they exchanged views on the challenges Lebanon faces and the opportunities available in the upcoming phase.

He affirmed that the framework agreement is not a final accord but serves as a starting point for completing negotiations. Its significance lies in affirming the independence of Lebanon’s decision-making and establishing the principle that only the Lebanese state negotiates on behalf of Lebanon. He emphasized that this sovereign decision is a red line that must not be compromised.

Reggi explained that the Lebanese state engaged in negotiations out of national responsibility to save Lebanon and halt the war, while Hezbollah remains in denial about the facts and the cost Lebanon and its people have borne. He also stressed that the demand to limit arms to the state is not merely an external requirement but an urgent Lebanese need to establish a normal, strong, and sovereign state capable of protecting all its citizens, safeguarding their interests, and opening a new chapter of stability and prosperity.
