PT Mana Indonesia Group has announced the development of an electronic payment system designed to simplify payment processes for Russian tourists visiting Indonesia through the Russian Mir payment network, while also easing payments for Indonesians in Russia.

In a press interview, the company's director general, Hanzila Kalista, stated, "We initiated the creation of a cross-border payment gateway system. We are seeking a partner in the money transfer sector to enable Indonesian tourists to pay for their purchases and transportation in Russia with ease. Conversely, Russian tourists arriving in Indonesia will have the same capability."

Kalista explained that many Russians currently resort to using cryptocurrencies to make payments in Indonesia, but with the new mechanism, this necessity will be eliminated. She added, "Previously, Russian tourists had to first buy crypto assets and then exchange them for Indonesian rupiah. Now, they will be able to withdraw money and make payments directly in Indonesia without the need to buy or exchange cryptocurrencies."

She noted that the project was launched during the recent Russia-ASEAN Business Forum held in Kazan, Russia. Russian tourists will be able to use Indonesia's mobile payment service after registering a local SIM card, with a monthly transaction limit set at 40 million Indonesian rupiah (approximately 2,200 US dollars).

Kalista further mentioned that the initiative aims to enhance tourism, trade, and investment between Russia and Indonesia. She pointed out that several Russian institutions have shown interest in the project, including the Russian Export Center, the Moscow Export Center, and other specialized organizations.
