Barcelona secured its second consecutive La Liga title by defeating arch-rival Real Madrid 2-0 in a decisive Clásico at the Spotify Camp Nou on the final matchday of the 2025-2026 season. The victory, orchestrated by German coach Hansi Flick, narrowed the gap between the two Spanish giants in the all-time league title count. Barcelona now holds 29 La Liga championships, while Real Madrid remains ahead with 36.

This fixture marked only the second time in history that the La Liga title was decided directly in a Clásico between Barcelona and Real Madrid. The first instance occurred in the 1931-1932 season, when a 2-2 draw in the final round handed the trophy to Real Madrid. This time, Barcelona replicated the scenario but with a straight win that secured the championship against its traditional rival.

Historical Title Race

Barcelona won its first league title in the 1928-1929 season and added its 29th in the 2025-2026 campaign. The club now boasts a total of 99 official trophies across domestic, continental, and global competitions. Real Madrid, by comparison, has accumulated 103 official titles. This means Barcelona is just four trophies away from equaling its historic rival's overall count.
