FIFA Reveals Team Kits for 2026 World Cup Group Stage

Just seven days prior to the kickoff of the "historic World Cup" in Mexico City, FIFA disclosed the visual identities and color schemes of the kits for the 48 national teams competing in the group stage of the 2026 tournament, co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The opening round, featuring 24 matches, is anticipated to be a comprehensive visual spectacle where the symbolism of colors intersects with the teams' identities, promising an exceptional experience both artistically and athletically.

Host Nations Emphasize National Colors

The host countries begin their campaigns by adhering to their traditional colors. Mexico will open the tournament wearing its iconic green kit against South Africa. In Toronto, Canada will appear in a full red ensemble facing Bosnia and Herzegovina, while the United States will play its opening match in Los Angeles donning a jersey inspired by the American flag’s red and white colors against Paraguay.

Established Teams Maintain Classic Looks

The major football nations have preserved their classic visual identities for their first matches. Argentina will wear its famous "Albiceleste" kit, featuring white and sky blue, in its opening game. Brazil will appear in its yellow jersey paired with blue shorts against Morocco.

England's first match will see the team in an all-white kit facing Croatia. France will wear dark blue shirts with white shorts against Senegal. Germany will sport a white jersey adorned with colorful stripes against Curaçao. Portugal will play in red shirts and blue shorts against Cape Verde, and Uruguay will face its opponent wearing its traditional sky blue kit.

New Entrants Favor White Kits

Among the four teams making their World Cup debut, three have selected white as the primary color for their opening kits, with one exception. Cape Verde will wear an all-white kit, Jordan's "Nashama" will use white with red accents against Austria, and Uzbekistan, known as the "White Wolves," will don an all-white uniform against Colombia. Curaçao diverges from this pattern by choosing blue for its historic match against Germany.

New Regulations and Symbolic Messages on Kits

Under new regulations, FIFA requires teams to assign squad numbers from 1 to 26, reserving the number 1 exclusively for goalkeepers. The international federation also mandated subtle color contrasts between kits to facilitate clear distinction for viewers, including those with color blindness.
