Iran Initiates Legal Procedures in Former Leader Khamenei’s Assassination Case
The Iranian government announced the start of legal actions concerning the assassination of former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, following the completion of evidence collection.

The Iranian government declared on Sunday the commencement of legal procedures related to the assassination case of the former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Officials confirmed that the case is being pursued seriously after gathering all necessary evidence and documents.
Fatemeh Mohajerani, the government spokesperson, stated that the legal department of the presidency, in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is responsible for following up on the case and undertaking the required legal measures.
She added, "The process of filing the complaint began after completing the collection of documents and evidence, and work is ongoing seriously," without providing further details about the entity to which the complaint will be submitted or the nature of the forthcoming legal actions.
Khamenei was killed during a joint US-Israeli airstrike targeting his residence in Tehran on February 28. Several members of his family and senior military commanders were also killed in the attack.
Tehran has been holding funeral ceremonies for Ali Khamenei for the second consecutive day. Khamenei ruled the country for nearly 37 years. On Friday, farewell ceremonies were held for international delegations in Tehran.
With the absence of Mojtaba for the second day, the funeral prayer for Khamenei was conducted in Tehran.
His body is scheduled to be transferred to the city of Qom on Tuesday, then later moved to Iraq for burial ceremonies in the cities of Najaf and Karbala. Finally, on the following Thursday, the body will be returned to his hometown of Mashhad in the northeast of the country.
