Is the U.S. Preparing a New Attack on Iran?

Iranian state media reported that Iran's armed forces stated in a statement on Sunday that Tehran has received information indicating the United States is preparing to resume combat operations against it.

The leadership added in its statement that "any American attack will be followed by continuous strikes on American bases and interests in the region."

Earlier today, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf confirmed that his country has conveyed its conditions to the United States for reopening the Strait of Hormuz.

Reopening the Strait of Hormuz

Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) quoted Ghalibaf, Iran's chief negotiator, saying, "If these conditions are not met, and the legitimate rights of the Iranian people are not recognized, and American commitments are not fulfilled, there will be no opening for returning to previous negotiation conditions or reopening the Strait of Hormuz."

Since the start of the U.S.-Israeli war against it on February 28, Iran has largely closed the Strait of Hormuz, through which one-fifth of global oil and liquefied natural gas exports passed before the war.

In contrast, the United States is imposing a blockade on Iranian ports.

Ghalibaf said, "Our messages and conditions have been clearly conveyed to the other side through intermediaries."

Saturday, Iran's foreign ministry announced that Pakistan's Interior Minister Mohsen Naqvi, whose government is mediating to end the war, is visiting Tehran on Sunday for talks.
