Kuwait Releases Footage of Iranian Drone Attack on Airport
Kuwait's Civil Aviation Authority published video showing the initial moments of the Iranian drone strike on Kuwait International Airport's T1 terminal.
The Kuwait General Civil Aviation Authority released a video on Thursday capturing the first moments of the drone attack targeting the T1 passenger terminal at Kuwait International Airport on Wednesday. The authority described the assault as an "Iranian brutal aggression" that resulted in casualties and significant material damage.
The footage displayed a drone, believed to be an Iranian Shahed model, crashing into the passenger terminal. The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) denied Tehran's claims that the damage to the terminal was caused by an American interceptor missile. CENTCOM stated on the platform X that Iran's assertion that the damage was not due to an Iranian attack but rather a U.S. missile was "completely false."
CENTCOM affirmed that Iran deliberately and unjustifiably targeted the civilian airport with drones in a calculated attack.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Iranian Tasnim news agency quoted the Revolutionary Guard as denying any attack on Kuwait Airport, claiming the damage was caused by a malfunction in the U.S. Patriot missile systems after failing to intercept Iranian missiles.
Kuwaiti authorities reported that the Iranian attack on the airport early Wednesday resulted in one death and 63 injuries, alongside damage to vital infrastructure, including diplomatic missions.
The Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement confirming that the Iranian assault on Kuwait International Airport led to the death of one individual, injuries to others, and damage to critical facilities, including diplomatic posts.
The Ministry of Health announced receiving 63 injured persons from the attack, noting severe and multiple injuries among travelers and staff. The ministry detailed that injuries included fractures, head trauma, brain hemorrhages, limb amputations, blast-related wounds, and smoke inhalation cases. It also reported conducting seven major emergency surgeries.
On Wednesday, the Kuwaiti government began a comprehensive assessment of the damages caused by the Iranian attack on Kuwait International Airport, intensifying site visits and monitoring the condition of the injured. Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmed Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah ordered the prompt completion of repair and rehabilitation work on the damaged passenger terminal.
Following the drone attack on the airport, the Prime Minister inspected the T1 passenger terminal. Accompanied by Sheikh Hamoud Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, head of the General Civil Aviation Authority, he reviewed the circumstances of the incident, the fatality, injuries, and conducted an initial evaluation of the considerable material damage to several airport facilities, according to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).
He emphasized the necessity of taking all required measures to ensure the safety of workers and those present at the site, directing immediate commencement of repair and rehabilitation efforts to restore the terminal's operational readiness as soon as possible.
He also commended the airport staff and emergency teams for their swift response in managing the aftermath and controlling the situation.
In a related development, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahd Youssef Saud Al-Sabah toured the T1 terminal to inspect the damage caused by the attack. He stressed the importance of completing technical inspections, conducting a thorough damage assessment, and taking necessary actions within the scope of authority. He received briefings from relevant officials on the incident and the measures taken to address and contain its effects.
He praised the efforts of the concerned authorities for their rapid response and the steps taken to secure the affected sites and ensure the safety of workers.
The Kuwait General Civil Aviation Authority posted on X a video it described as showing "the initial moments of the brutal Iranian drone attack on the T1 passenger terminal at Kuwait International Airport on June 3, 2026, which caused loss of life, serious injuries, and extensive material damage."
Health Minister Ahmed Al-Awadhi visited Jaber Al-Ahmad Hospital to check on the injured receiving medical care after the attack. He confirmed that the ministry is directly monitoring all cases and providing the necessary human, technical, and logistical resources to ensure they receive appropriate care until full recovery.
Al-Awadhi praised the medical, nursing, technical, and administrative staff for their prompt and efficient response in handling the injured from the initial moments of the incident.
Additionally, the Health Minister and Farwaniya Governor Sheikh Adhbi Nasser Al-Adhbi Al-Sabah visited Farwaniya Hospital to follow up on the condition of patients admitted due to the attack.
Al-Awadhi stated that the Ministry of Health activated emergency and response plans from the earliest hours of the incident and raised readiness levels across health institutions to ensure rapid handling of cases and provision of medical care according to the highest professional and medical standards.
He emphasized that the health system continues to operate at full readiness and capacity to respond to various situations and emergencies, affirming that the safety of citizens and residents and the provision of necessary healthcare remain the ministry's top priorities.
Several Arab and Gulf countries condemned the Iranian attacks targeting Kuwait and Bahrain early Wednesday, which resulted in one death and 63 injuries in Kuwait. They denounced the "blatant violation" of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of both countries.
