Trump says he prefers the US obtain Iran's enriched uranium rather than just bury it, calling the alternative a "publicity stunt."

President Donald Trump has stated he would rather the United States take possession of Iran's enriched uranium than merely bury it, dismissing the burial option as "more about publicity than anything else." The remarks came during an interview with Fox News conducted in Beijing while Trump was visiting China. "I'd rather get it (the uranium). It can be buried... I'd feel more comfortable if it were in our possession," he said.
On Thursday, Trump added that "what we can do is strike again," referencing the U.S. strikes on major Iranian nuclear sites in 2025. The comments come as the Iranian nuclear file remains a flashpoint between Washington and Tehran.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who alongside Trump launched an attack on Iran on February 28, said in a recent interview that the war "is not over yet." Netanyahu insisted that sensitive nuclear materials "must be taken out" of the country, emphasizing the need to fully eliminate the Iranian nuclear threat.
Trump has previously stated he "will not be patient with Iran," demanding they reach a deal. These statements coincide with continued deadlock in nuclear negotiations between Iran and major powers.
